Dubai is the new showbiz goldmine

Dubai has always been famed for fashion say from jewelry to clothes and cheap machinery but now it seems East African artistes have discovered a new money making business judging from how many shows are held there in a year.

As a matter of fact most Kenyans who have settled there have now ventured into the showbiz industry as major side hustle and have even come up with one of the most influential entertainment units within the United Arabs emirates not to mention they are leading promoters who pull most of the successful shows.

Hassan Waziri popularly known as Has Waziri from Tanzania is one of the most successful promoters owing to the fact that he owns Club Casurina reducing his venue costs while hosting a show. This is where most East Africans residing in Dubai take a break to drink and mingle as they reminisce about home and pint down their home sickness. Hassan has been able to host quite a number of artistes like Jamaican Marlon Asha of the Ganja Farmer fame, Kenyan Kriss Darling, Bongos Ray-c just to mention a few.

Another influential name is Studio Sixty –One owned by a Kenyan Francis Wahome a.k.a Deejay Franq .This unit has also hosted the likes of Black Supremacy twice and Kriss Darling just to mention a few. Apparently another upcoming promoter DJ Onejahoh (now of Hive Entertainment) is a protégée of StudioSixty-One but they fell out due to unknown differences. Hive is also upcoming as it hosted its first show this year featuring Metro FM’s Selector Technics on a show dubbed King of the Dance Floor.

Other artistes who have performed there are DJ Lastborn, KandaKing, Redsan just to mention a few.
This however is not going well with Kenyan fans as they feel that most of their artistes are concentrating so much on Dubai shows and giving less attention at home we also need these hyped shows here. “I wonder what Dubai holds nowadays. Kriss Darling and Black Supremacy seem to be reaping more there but trust me they could do twice better at home” complained Jeff Kinyanjui, a fan.

It wasn’t me, Dj Soxxy

It seems the Esther Arunga /Quincy Timberlake drama is also affecting other influential celebs as Kubamaba Crew Dj soxxy’s Facebook account was hacked a few days ago and the hacker went ahead to invite his friends to Quincy Timberlake’s(Esther Arungas hubby) fan page. “I apologise to all my Facebook friends and I would like them to know that I was not the one who send those invitations to that group” said an apologetic Soxxy.
