Isaac Blackman for the Busara Music Festival.

Jamaican gospel artiste, Isaac Blackman, has been signed by the organisers of Sauti za Busara Music Festival to grace the events which will be take place on February 11 2009 in Zanzibar.
Blackman the leader of the 30-year-old family band The Love Circle comprising Trinidad and Tobago’s royal family of music is the last-born son of the late Ras Shorty I and inventor of soca and jamoo music. Blackman has headlined major music festivals in the Caribbean as well as concerts in North America, Africa and Europe. His most notable international performances include St. Lucia Jazz Festival (2007), Rain-forest World Music Festival (2008) and most recently in Nairobi where he was the main attraction in To the Ceiling concert.
The musician is recipient of five 2007 Trinidad and Tobago Awards, including Album of The Year and Male Artist of The Year. He was awarded Best Recording Overseas Artist at the 2006 Flame Awards of Barbados, as well as four Marlin Awards, including New Artist of The Year and Song of The Year 2009 for “To the Ceiling”.
Others on the performing list at Busara Festival is Coast based Afro-fusion singer Nyota Ndogo who will lead other Kenyan singers to the event, Makadem and Juliana kanyomozi from Uganda.

Just like Westlands uptown Thursdays hosted by Homeboyz crew at Rezorus club ....East lands now has its version dubbed ‘Friday to Sunday reggae nights’ courtesy of Firehouse Entertainment. These sessions are lead by Firehouse’s chief Dj popularly known as the Musical Sheriff and his crew which consists of the likes Ranking Izzoh. Firehouse management is planning to officially launch the organisation on the December 19 at their resident club, Hedgehog in Jerusalem.Well, let’s see between Westlands and Eastlands which can rock reggae fans the most.

Dynamq’s December tour.

Sudanese American based artiste, Dynamq famed for his tracks Nobody and Ungwaro is set to tour the country in December. Speaking to Spicy Bizz online, Dynamq revealed that he would be coming on 9th December and will hopefully perform at the Sarakasi dome on December 12 then later at Club Lambada, Mtwapa. He will then briefly travel to Australia from 26 to 29 December. The artiste apparently has his roots in Kenya as he was based in kawangware before moving to the US 12 years ago.

Ugandan Nakudata and Bread n Butter duo, Radio and Weasel, are at logger heads with Chameleone. Ironically Weasel and Chameleone are blood brothers. DJ Last Born forms a new Entertainment Unit.

Former Black Supremacy Disk Jockey DJ Last Born has formed his own entertainment unit called Supreme Entertainment. According to his manager Lastborn is now more focused on his DJing career and is even planning to set up a DJ academy. Meanwhile the DJ is set to perform in Stuttgart Germany on 28th November alongside Nazizi, Wyre and Mr Lenny then Norway and Finland on 3rd and 4th December respectively .He also has his website under construction and he can soon be booked online. “DJ Last Born is now past petty local shows and at this level the least he can do locally is co-operate functions and apparently that’s why he changed the name of the company from Lastborn to Supreme Entertainment illustrating how major this will be.” said, his manager.

Bobi Wine expecting a third baby.

Ugandan musician Bobi Wine, a.k.a the Ghetto President, is to said to be excited by the fact that he and his wife of many years Barbara Itungo Kyagulanyi are going to have their third child. This comes after Barbie's absence from the limelight causing speculation that the two were headed for divorce. Spice Bizz can now confirm that the two are still together.

According to a source close to the 22 year old, she has been taking care of her baby whose father is American.’ Latoya is a mother and has kept herself out of the limelight ever since her pregnancy grew. She is just in Arusha taking care of the baby,” the source told spicy bizz.

After all the hype Ng'ang'a and Debarl of Tusker Project Fame (TPF3) did not perform at Sepetuka, a concert organised by Homeboyz Entertainment, on Saturday night at the carnivore grounds.
Despite radio adverts claiming the two would be in performance, it is said that by Saturday morning it was known to the oganisers that Ng'ang'a would not be at Carnivore for the event and therefore without Ng'ang'a in the picture it did not make sense for Debarl to perform either as it was meant to be a face-off. Apparently Ng'ang'a, is on a nationwide tour for his own talent show, is rumored to have requested an air ticket from Kisumu to Nairobi and back but was declined.

Coast Awards postponed.

The much anticipated Kenya Coast Awards ceremony have been postponed to April next year. The awards organised by Beyonce promotions have been postponed. Close sources to the promoter cum model have also revealed that there are people taking advantage of Beyonce's situation and are now calling for a fundraising for hospital bill. Controversial G-master Masese was recently roughed up by bouncers at Tamasha Hurlingham on allegations that he was a pick pocket.

“It was about 1am so we're on the floor a whole group of mixed people when I saw a bouncer beckon me several times but ignored it; he grabbed and roughed me up for no reason to the surprise of everyone present .Funny thing was they didn’t want to say what the problem was and all they could say is that I was supposed to be arrested for pick pocketing.” A bitter Masese said.

Tamasha management has however denied knowledge of such an incidence. Others present during this incidence was MC Kah, Kay, Mumbi, Hugo of Nairobi Now and many more. Masese has previously complained that his life was in danger blaming it on his rivals.

Competition focuses on underground hip hop rather than the commercial acts that are usually picked to represent in the various Kenyan and African award shows
The awards hosts( RHYME FM) Kenya’s premiere 100% hip-hop station and a panel consisting reputable and experienced industry players( emcees, producers ,djs, ) .went through releases dating back 3yrs ,we sampled hip-hop play lists from players on the ground matatu ,mixtape djs, online archives ,plus direct submissions and came up with a list we thought deserved to be recognized for their contribution towards hip hop’s growth in the country. we also felt it was only fair we involved the hip-hop heads in the nomination process and to this cause a wild card category was set up ,this means under each and every group of nominees in the different categories. the streets will be allowed to vote in two wild cards(people thy believe ought to be added to the said group of nominees)The final two most voted in wild cards will automatically make it to the said category of nominees .On 12th sep t 2009. the nominees list from the board will be released. The process of voting in wild cards officially kicks off and will continue for one month till October 12th,2009. Rasta men form a Sacco.

After the death of King Monday the Rasta DJs have now come together and formed a Rasta Sacco meant to help one another in times of need. This was an idea by Benny formerly of Shashamane International and also a nurse in Kenyatta hospital. “If the Sacco had been formed earlier I don’t think King Monday would have wasted as he was. He lacked financially and emotionally frustrated. This Sacco has also attracted non Rasta DJs and we are also requesting other interested DJs.” Said Benny.

Kenzo’s new strategy of wooing fans.

Kenzo’s lifestyle has seemingly changed from being in the limelight because of music to his drama with women.
Hardly weeks after the Mama Milka singer broke up with his girl friend fellow Ogopa signed artiste, Mauryshia Milan, the artiste is said to have been involved with two women who are related. One lady whose name is Essie Lusweti told our Xpress Entertainment that the artiste was on her case even before they had broken up with Mauryshia. “Kenzo was vybing my auntie who is now out of the country and also at the same time flirting with me telling me that am the girl he wanted to break his virginity with. This happened even before he broke up with his girl and at one instance the girl called me and told me that Kenzo was off-limits to any other girl since they were serious and were even going to adopt a baby “said a bitter Essie. Kenzo however dismissed these allegations though he admitted he knew Essie. “Am very disappointed in Essie because she misunderstood my kindness towards her. DJ Lastborn joins Fridays con list.

Kisumu based Entertainment unit Airmaxx International CEO, Daniel Friday, seemingly owes many unknown people. The latest to confess is DJ Lastborn whom Friday owes Kshs 13,000.Apparently he was to pay him Kshs 20,000 but only gave him Kshs 7,000. “He gave me the amount and told me he was broke at the moment but would pay me later but the next time I heard about him he was out of the country anyway I decided to let go since that is not even a quarter of the amount I earn in a single show “said a less concerned Lastborn. When questioned by our reporter, Friday denied the allegations. “I cant believe Lastborn could lie about that despite the VIP treatment I offered him when he was in Kisumu.I have lost all the respect I had for him. “he defended himself.
