Isaac Blackman for the Busara Music Festival.
Jamaican gospel artiste, Isaac Blackman, has been signed by the organisers of Sauti za Busara Music Festival to grace the events which will be take place on February 11 2009 in Zanzibar.
Blackman the leader of the 30-year-old family band The Love Circle comprising Trinidad and Tobago’s royal family of music is the last-born son of the late Ras Shorty I and inventor of soca and jamoo music. Blackman has headlined major music festivals in the Caribbean as well as concerts in North America, Africa and Europe. His most notable international performances include St. Lucia Jazz Festival (2007), Rain-forest World Music Festival (2008) and most recently in Nairobi where he was the main attraction in To the Ceiling concert.
The musician is recipient of five 2007 Trinidad and Tobago Awards, including Album of The Year and Male Artist of The Year. He was awarded Best Recording Overseas Artist at the 2006 Flame Awards of Barbados, as well as four Marlin Awards, including New Artist of The Year and Song of The Year 2009 for “To the Ceiling”.
Others on the performing list at Busara Festival is Coast based Afro-fusion singer Nyota Ndogo who will lead other Kenyan singers to the event, Makadem and Juliana kanyomozi from Uganda.
