Art for Afya at Mwendas as DJ Joe is crowned the media DJ.
Mwenda's courtyard, sporting new tasteful decor, was full to the brim with Afya Kenya Foundation supporters who turned up in their hundreds to help raise awareness and funds to tackle health issues in Kenyan Society.
Art lovers filled the venue to watch the dazzling performances by solo rock guitarist Gregory Limbe, R&B crooners Elani, the effervescent Dan Chizi with his band, The Wananchi and Sauti sol who brought the house down with their hit singles such as Blue Uniform, Zosi and Lazizi.
There were poetical pieces by Mkamzee and Cedric Kuloba and stunning monologues by Eddy Kimani and Joel Ngaruiya in addition to a variety of art pieces by Samuel Githegi on display at the site gallery.
In attendace included dignitaries such as Hon. Charles Nyamai, MP Kitui West, a long time supporter of the foundation, Grace Makosewe from VIP Parties at the Tribe Hotel, events guru Ted Akuku from Roundtrip Kenya and Hermina Patel of K24 among several others.
This was the first Art For Afya event of the year hosted by the Afya Kenya Foundation to be followed by more every last Wednesday of the month. It promises to be THE event of the social calendar in 2010.Meanwhile on the same night Velvet lounge, Westlands DJ Joe Mfalme of Capital FM was crowned as the Media DJ beating big names like DJ Hypnotic of Kiss TV, DJ Klash Kiss100 and Shoe Kiratu Kameme FM. This was to mark the beginning of the second season for the Pilsner Mfalme competition.
