Kaveke now to judge M-NET face of Africa grand finale.
This seems like a lucky year for Kenya's top designer, John Kaveke as he has been appointed as one of the judges in the panel of eight at the MNET Face of Africa grand finale. Kaveke studied fashion both Kenya and Spain. He has been involved in prestigious fashion events like International Smirnoff Fashion Awards, FAFA, and Catwalk Kenya among others.
Not only will Kaveke's five-piece collection will feature at the event. He says he's been so consumed by designing the collection that the news about being a judge hasn't quite sunk in. "It's one of those things that hit when you're seated there. Being given the privilege of judging does give me the excitement. It's an honour being handpicked from other top designers considering East Africa is not yet recognized as a major fashion and I'm hoping that I'll bring East African designs to the lime light with my designs."
Other judges are also top names in the beauty industry like Somalia-born supermodel and CEO Iman Cosmetics, Iman. Another supermodel to be gracing the judging panel will be Nigeria’s Oluchi, a former winner of this very same competition. South Africa’s super model Josie Borain; Megan Kruge, Director of The Shine Group agencies; South African designer David Tlale; Nduka Obaigbena, Thisday Editor-in-Chief and Chairman; and ARISE magazine editor Helen Jennings.
As if a Kenyan judge is not enough, Fareed Kimani from Kenya’s Capital FM wall of fame will also present the live finale alongside Botswana’s Kaone Kario, 2005 Face of Africa winner.
